After a long post at Bali, lets head back on to Jakarta. And yes again, this post will be linked automatically to JKTGO’s blog – where I’m also serving as one of the content writers there. So be sure to pay it a visit. Especially if you’re a first time in Jakarta. Lots, and I mean lots! of places to go visit. So here’s my next post about Mojo at Senopati. I stopped by this place about a year ago when it first opened and I can still taste the vivid flavours of its dish – I remember I had churros & grilled chicken – you can see HERE on my old post. This time, they had me and several great food bloggers in the city on a special preview of their next menu. And it was fantastic! The team at Mojo really brings the true flavour out from every dish – without making excessive presentation. What I can tell you is that I’ll definitely come for more and you all should too. So lets grab a look shall we? We started off with samplers (which is quite big – so YEAY!) Mojo Senopati JakartaFrom the three new appetisers: Classic Lengua Taco (Pico De Gallo, Guacamole, Jalapeño Relish, Taco Sauce & Chipotle Aioli). This is my favourite appetisers where the the Beef Tongue (Lengua) is cooked perfectly that doesn’t leave any strong after taste and blends perfectly with the overall condiments. Mojo Senopati Jakarta Mojo Senopati Jakarta

The other two dish are the Sweet Temptation & Korean Wings – chicken wings glazed in soy and honey, and the other half with gozuchang glazed, and added with a sprinkle of scallions. Perfect beer companion guys! And don’t forget about the nachos! Its definitely my favourite nachos I’ve tried I love on how the condiments, are mixed perfectly into the bowl. Mojo Fish & Chips – a tasty breaded john Dory, pineapple coriander salsa with a strawberry jalapeño cream sauce, and not to be forgotten – fries! Mojo Senopati Jakarta Mojo Senopati JakartaFor you who wants something more different, taste the unique – Fried Chicken & Waffle. Don’t forget the dessert which I officially recommend: these are definitely one of the tastiest desserts I’ve had in the city! They are: Waffle with Red Velvet Ice Cream and also my personal personal favourite: Peanut Butter Cheesecake. It’s based with an incredible thick crunch, and NO! Wilshire. Ah, what a place. I’ve been curious about this place ever since it opened. However, faith hasn’t brought me here. Then on, I met Hanna, one of the lovely owner of the place on a casual evening (thanks again Hanna for your kind hospitality). Edited 3It was a sunny day when I came here – around 14:00. The sky is bright – but not too bright. I only saw the places’ photo from other sites (of course, JKTGO is where i look on : P ) – but I wouldn’t expect that it will look that beautiful.Edited 7The clear glass brings a classic, and posh look to this place. Dominated in earthly tone, Wilshire is definitely a classy place for a great chill session. I then sat on with Hanna, Hans (you’d know him from his famous blog, eatandtreats) and another owner, Cla Lisca (thanks also for the great treat). Portobello FriesThe Portobello Fries opens the meal. The tartar sauce makes a great companion for this fried meal. Plus, it’s chunky size and crisp bites makes it perfect for a great light appetizer. We had several dish for the main course, so let’s go one by one. Foie Gras SushiFirst come is the Foie Gras Sushi. As always, whenever a foie gras come to the table, I lost my breath (for a second, promise :P). This is my second encounter with foie gras sushi – the first one is in Espiga. How does it taste? Beautiful! The foie gras is in its proportionate size, and blends well together with the rice. I would definitely order this again. Jumbo Lump Crab CakeThe Jumbo Lump Crab Cake comes next on our table. I never had a chance to try crabcake – though I always caught them in the movies. What I love about this crabcake is you can taste the rich crab meat – even though its already battered – you know on how a crab meats dissolve with the dish and you can’t taste them afterwards, right? Trust me, that’s not the case for this one. If you’re looking for a not so heavy main course, this will suit you well. Garlic NoodleThe Garlic Noodle! One of my favourites in this table. Despite its’ relatively dry look – be sure not to doubt its taste.  Hanna & Cla Lisca mentioned it’s a lil dry – perhaps we left it for quite a while, while grabbing some other meal. But hey, it still taste great. I find it as a great substitute for the endless pasta menu. And, the dry-ness of the noodle adds the meal’s crisp level. There’s one more meal – but before that, let me share you the drink. Sheila's CarnivalHans ordered the Sheila Carnival (Hanna mentioned it’s unique look has made it the famous mocktail among the female guests). I didn’t really taste it, but the cotton candy sure makes that drink refreshing. Frozen Peach MargaritaAs for moi (since its Friday), Hanna offered the Frozen Peach Margarita. I’m not a big fan of margarita – but it never stopped me for trying every margarita until I found my favourite. So far, this one is on my top list. The peach blends well with the tequila – so you don’t have that strong-yukky-tequila aftertaste. A great great drink! Be sure not to skip it. Slow Cooked WagyuThe Slow Cooked 55 Degrees Wagyu is the last meal that come to the table – and I loved it to this very day. What you can find here is wagyu which has been chopped for you – complimented in a special sauce ( I forgot what it was – bubut it’s great). A special part of this menu is that the wagyu has been slowly cooked for over 24 hours. And yet, you can still see it has a pink part – in the middle. Plus, the mashed potato with the corn makes this dish more divine. I think I will order this, plus the foe gras sushi in my next meal : ) Wilshire JakartaAs an overall, I loved the ambience of Wilshire – it’s wooden interior makes everything so delightful and warm. Plus, the big glass window of this place makes it even more classy. Definitely a great place to escape from the city. Bianca Mosaic TilesBianca Mosaic TilesMoreover, the place is totally flourished by the acclaimed Bianca Mosaic tiles – Hanna’s mom ordered them. It’s really gorgeous. Before we end our lunch, Hanna introduced us to a special twist she made in the bar (btw, Hanna tests every drink made in Wilshire – plus, she even made the recipe for most of the drink). The rim that you’ll find in the margarita in Wilshire is sugar, not salt. Hanna wished to try something new. And boy does it work wonderfully. The waiter accidentally mixed the rimming on my margarita – so Hanna ordered a Wilshire-Style Tequila – yes, it’s a shot. Whopee!  Edited 14After a quick shot, I swear, you won’t make that horrendous look after you drink. In fact, the sugar brings up the sweetness of the tequila – making one can digest it more quickly. Will this increase your alcohol tolerance level? Ooo, I hope not. I hope you all had enjoyed the previous post. Talita is definitely one of the best Chefs you can expect to wait. In this post however, I’ll be talking about one of the newest (not a lot of people about it – except if you’ve visited JKTGO for the past week). Espiga is a semi fine dining place that you’ll be able to find at the CEO (Cilandak Executive Office) at Simatupang area. Despite the remote locations, Espiga is definitely at least ONCE of your time.

Espiga JakartaIndeed the best time to go there is during Saturday night – where you can take the Antasari flyover and landed on Cilandak area. It’s very convenient and no jam at all. After entering the building, the lift will take you to the 17th floor – which is the highest floor on that tower. Yes, you can see a majestic view of the Simatupang area. Even though it’s not as bright as Altitude, or Skye, this place has its own charm – i think its the interior that pulls it off together.Espiga JakartaOh, before I go on, I’d like to thank Riz for having me. He’s also the owner of Tapas Movida – which got awarded as the Best Spanish Restaurant in Jakarta. You can see it HERE. So let’s get to what you should have here.
ScallopI’ll be showing you a lot of photos. So have fun! We had a lot of dish during that night. For the appetizer – first, we have above, the Seared Scallops with Cumin and Cauliflower Puré, with a Sweet Curry Sauce. It’s absolutely divine. One of the best things that I like from Espiga is they somehow managed to combine all different flavours into one. Like, who on earth will put scallop with a curry? But, what I can tell you is that – this place is one of the tastiest meal I’ve had in this year. So let’s move on, shall we? : ) Espiga JakartaThe second appetizer is the Smoked Salmon, Beetroot Salsa and Wasabi Mayonnaise. Now, i’m not a big fan of beet root as I can’t quite digest the flavour itself. But boy does this dish brings it well. The beetroot is cut to tiny pieces, which is garnished with some coriander leaves. The salmon is also very fresh which taste delicious – as the wasabi is perfectly put in a small amount – Which doesn’t destroy the taste of the food. Last two appetizers are my personal favourite: Espiga JakartaThe Wagyu Beef Carpaccio with Waldorf Salad. It’s crispy, it’s delicous and has a very rich taste. We literally finished the plate within the first few minutes. BEST Carpaccio in the city. Period.Tuna Belly with Foie GrasAnd lastly, boy I can still taste this last dish – Seared Tuna Belly and Foie Gras with Miso Caramel. What a unique creation isn’t it? And as you can see below the foie gras is rice! Yes, rice! Combined with foie gras? Two of my most favourite food has combined into one. Definitely recommended and a must have when you’re here! Hendricks Gin & TonicNow during your intermission to the main course, you must have its cocktail – Hendrick Gin & Tonic. Now this is not your usual Gin & Tonic. What Espiga do is that they put quite a lot of sliced cucumber into your drinks that neutralize the strong taste of Gin – and substitute it with a fresher and tastier flavour. Don’t worry, the alcohol percentage is the same. Now, let’s head on to the main course.
Espiga JakartaNow if you’re wondering how much to eat here. It’s relatively affordable for a semi fine dining place. The price starts at IDR 75,000 – to IDR 495,000. But the meal ranges between IDR 100,000 – IDR 250,000. The above dish is he Galician Octopus and Crisp Pork Belly is the next one that we have! The Pork Belly is definitely nice – however, I wish it can be just  a lil’bit crispier.However, with the white bean purée, this dish is very well made.Espiga JakartaThe next thing that we have is the Tagine Spiced Lamb Cutlets Grilled with Roast Peach and Couscous. I love the couscous! It’s very soft to eat and very flavourful. The lamb is also beautifully cooked – and don’t worry, you won’t smell the usual strong aroma. Espiga JakartaThen on, we have the Sea Bass and Scallops. My friend Angel and Riady loved it so much – for me, I’m not really a fish person. But, this fish is complemented with scallops, and basil oil which gives another unique flavour to the dish. So if you’re a seafood lover, this dish is definitely for you.Espiga JakartaMy personal and all of our favourite dish is the Pan Roasted Duck Breast. This dish simply blows me away. Served with Orange and Pomegranate Salad, this dish really set a high standard of how salad should be. : P  – I rarely hear my friend Riady praise a food so well. But he mentioned on how much he enjoyed the food in Espiga over 3-4 times. So yeay! I really love on how fresh this dish is made. So it really brings out the best of the crispiness of the salad and also the duck. If you’re wondering about the price, its IDR 175,000  : ) Espiga Jakarta Espiga JakartaWe do have dessert but I forgot to write the names down. But I hope the photos above can make up for it! If you’re confused, I’ll have the first one (the one that has creme-brulee top layer) compared to the other one – if you’re a chocolate people, you know where to go. The overall service is impeccable, and if you ask me, i’ll definitely come back! This is for sure. And alas, this is my journey to Espiga. Oh, and if you’re wondering, Espiga is actually the names of the stars of Virgo – which has a position, right above this very building. Thats how the name comes out. One of the big pleasure about my job is I get to visit one of the city’s most hidden, to the well known places in town. And in this opportunity, during my visit to cover this place on the Jakarta City Guide, JKTGO – do take 2 minutes to take a look – promise, it’ll be worth your time – I get to visit Roastwoods at Kuningan Village.
Roastwood Jakarta ExteriorNow if you’re thinking that Kuningan Village is a big mall, think again, as it’s quiet to the contrary – it’s more like a mini garden set behind the huge Setiabudi Building. However, this kind of setting, gives this place a more beautiful, and intimate feel. The decor is very soothing – I arrived there sometime on 15:00 – during a weekday. So the place is not packed at all. But they say, it’s packed during the weekend. Roastwoods JakartaOne of the things that I can’t stop talking about is the huge mural of owl – hand-painted by an artist on a huge wall. The owners, who are also brothers – Jonathan & Chris took this owl as the Japanese believes of Owl on bringing a good luck – plus, Jonathan is really into Japanese culture.
Roastwoods Jakarta Roastwoods JakartaAfter getting some refreshment, and gentle pampering from its Owl Latte – and the Red Velvet Latte (be sure not to missed it, and make sure you get it warm. It gives a soothing comfort to your stomach), I was treated to a several delightful meal. Now the menu itself is mostly dominated by a selections of super delicious finger food which you can miss. Roastwoods JakartaThe first one I tried is the Do it Yourself Poopiah – it’s a poopiah which you can eat it with the homemade fillings they created – plus some chill, and also garlic, and egg. The amount of popiah served is quite many – so it’s definitely worth to have it. Plus, the homemade filling is very fresh, despite of its “you’re-gonna-get-full” look. Roastwoods JakartaThe second one is the Original Wings – it’s a crispy chicken wings. BUT Don’t you dare questioned this epic chicken wings. It’s super crispy – from the skin to the inside. There’s also a spicy wings which you can try. But for what it’s worth, this chicken wing is one of the owner’s favourite- and also the guest.
Skinny Potato Skin - Roastwoods JakartaAnd alas for the third finger food, I had the Skinny Potato Skin. Jonathan recommended this – and it’s a relief to finally eat something rather than french fries. It’s smooth, and doesn’t have that oily after taste. Plus, you can deep it in 3 sauce – sour sauce, bits of bacon, and also cheese.
We skipped the main course – and get immediately to the dessert. I must say i’ve been quite impressed on the servings – as it stay true to the value they uphold – that NO MSG are used at all. That’s why, you get to eat so many fried finger food without getting thirsty. Roastwoods JakartaThe dessert section hosts many beautiful and not to be missed selections. I had the Beaver Tail -its something that I wanted to try for quite a while – ever since my cousin start to snapped some shots of it at Canada. It’s not as big as the usual beaver tail. The Chef, Chris – who again, is also the owner, makes fresh dough every day. The Beaver Tail is beautifully make – and it’s very crispy. The people here at Roastwood is also very generous on giving the menu its condiments – you can taste, and even smell the flourishing caramel – as soon it hits the table. A dessert you can missed in Jakarta.Rocky Road Waffle - Roastwoods JakartaAnd for the last menu, the Rocky Road Waffle. One of the best dessert I ate so far! Despite it may look usual – the power lies within the peanut sauce which has been infused with chocolate. I swear, it’s like heaven! A MUST TRY, definitely! For what its worth, this place is definitely not to be missed – and considering the relatively small capacity, do make a reservation. So, Le Mieux – a new place in Galeries Lafayette Jakarta. This place is located at the men’s section of this luxury shopping store. The people behind J House, is the one behind this new dining place, and I had the pleasure to have a glimpse of it (thanks, Laksmi : ) ). I didn’t managed to eat so much – just an entree, and a dessert as I was pretty stuffed that noon. The overall place is just a simple, intimate dining spot at a corner – where you can make sure that a true privacy is what you can get here.
Le MieuxThere’s no special decor – but the wine shelf at the corner is quite lovely (of course, with a fine selection of beautiful wines). It’ll be best to come here around 16:00 as the sun can be quite nice, and you can have a nice chat over a glass of wine, or some refreshing cocktails.
Le Mieux Galeries Lafayette JakartMango CrepesAbove is the Mango Crepes that I had. Despite its creamy look, I must say that the Chef pulled it quite well. The mango sauce is all homemade, which is topped with a delicious taste of Vanilla ice cream. There are some cocktails presented also in the menu – and also a GIGANTIC BOTTLE OF WINE! So be sure to be the first to open it when you’re there. Overall, a nice place to relax, and have the privacy you’ve always dreamed of! Beneath the giant bushes of Jakarta’s skyscrapers, Intercontinental Mid Plaza Jakarta recently re-launched one of its in-house restaurant Rasa, after a major, major change. I was recently invited with a bunch of bloggers in the city, along with the media people to the dinner (thanks Catrina, for the invite!). But before we move on, let me just say sorry again for leaving you all too long – things are going at fast speed at JKTGO, my startup which will be launched this coming September (do sign up on – and the second apology goes to the photo that I can’t post on today’s blog – my phone died, along with the fact I forgot to bring my camera. But however, I got you all some nice pics, courtesy of Rasa – which I think will cheer you up!
Rasa InteriorFirst of all, the restaurant is simply amazing. Despite its relatively smaller place than the other buffet establishment you see in town, this place managed to pull off a charming, intimate, and also homey look with its colour tone, and high ceiling. Another kudos is on how they put almost most off their platter in the center – because it may be a little bit frustrating to go around circles around the restaurant, to find the perfect food (we all have been there : P ). Another great thing you can expect in this restaurant is they have a BBQ menu – which is however, served outdoors – which is kinda nice, to get away from the air conditioned room, even though it’s just for a couple minutes. At  the BBQ stand, you’ll see all of the ingredients on the table, which you’ll see – are very fresh. And you can choose which one you want.
Rasa 2First off, as I’m dying for soup, I had the Potato Soup – which may look the same as a creamy mushroom soup. The overall texture is nice, it’s not too thick as any other creamy soup, and it has a soft taste. It’s very sweet (which is good for me) but most of the others find it too sweet, so if you’re not too fond of sweet stuff, you can at least grab a bit – it’s a buffet anyways. : )
Then on, I started my platter (this is the main platter edition) with the Japanese section – they serve fresh cut sashimi, and also some sushi. I enjoyed the sashimi better as it’s fresh and cut directly in front of me. The sushi’s not bad – but I do hope that they will serve different kind of sushi once in a while – especially in a buffet. Aside from making a great standout compared to the other buffet, it could perhaps lead to a more innovative competition among the buffet scene in Jakarta. Ps. Don’t forget the Crab Stick in this section. It’s divine.
Rasa duck tacosThe Indian dish was my second round. This section is not in the center, it’s near the open kitchen so you can see how all the Roti Canai are freshly made. You’ll find many small condiments, served in the usual Indian bowl. It seems a little bit crowdy to me – but however, once I smell the perfect aroma of the dish, those scenery bothers me no more. Now, as a true Indian food lover, I must say that the Indian food here is lovely! The Chicken Tikka is simply perfect, it has a perfect spiciness level, and also the canai bread, along with the Lamb Curry is too sweet to be missed! Be sure not to miss it people!
Last but not least, despite my harsh cold that night (everyone’s having a cold these days, right? ), I simply can’t miss the dessert bar. There’s a lot of dessert that you can find here, from traditional Indonesian cakes, waffles, many many delicious cakes, and ice creams. Oh, don’t forget to dip strawberries into the delicious chocolate fountain! One of my interesting finding here is the Pandan Cake which is quite tasty as it has a very nice aroma, and quite a cute, soft texture.
Triple chocolate brownieI also had the pleasure to meet Executive Chef Gary Palm, which oversees all of the food in the establishment. He definitely recommend you all to taste the Rasa Duck Tacos, Lontong Kari Ayam, Sanma with garlic bulbs, red chilli and corriander, BBQ Wagyu Beef, and the Warm Triple Chocolate Brownie. Well then, I do hope that this post can help you guys move along the city.
