Welcome back folks! Sorry for the long absence – I was away on a holiday! I hope you all are well. This post, I’ll be bringing the story from one of Jakarta’s renowned ramen place, Marutama Ra-Men. Before I start, I would like to thank the team at the place for inviting me, and some of the beloved food bloggers to taste the newest menu on this place. What did we have? Let’s check it out.
IMG_2785IMG_2768Starting our meal, we have the Chawan Mushi – do note that all the portions of the meal served throughout our dinner has been served in a slightly smaller portion – as we have to cramped up a lot of food : ). I find this chawan mushi quite nice — it’s been a while since I had a bowl of Chawan Mushi. The shimeji mushroom is present in quite a generous proportion which spruced up the overall flavours of the dish.
IMG_2771The Chicken Karaage here is definitely a must try! I find it delicious – plus, it’s not oily unlike many other karaage on other restaurants. When the menu say its deep fried juicy chicken leg, be prepared to experience the true meaning of juicy!
IMG_2769Again, like the Karaage, the Gyoza here also presents a same feature — which is not too oily. Yes despite the photo may depict some presence of oil, it doesn’t stick deeply in the Gyoza once you eat them. Hence, it’s quite nice and very soft. There’s two options of Gyoza, the chicken or the pork. I had the chicken and it’s quite decent to order this dish to be shared among yourselves.
IMG_2772Dish no 4 is the Tamago Ra-Men. This is one of the newest ramen in the menu. Now to be honest, I’m not a ramen person. I always find them repellant, perhaps due to the oil it leaves out on my taste buds. However, I’m always willing to try out new things to find the perfect ramen. This ramen, thankfully managed to please my taste! As you can see the soup doesn’t have a thick texture, which you may usually find at other ramen place — which is caused by excessive use of MSG. I’m glad to tell you that you won’t find it here. This ramen has a medium texture which is easy for you all to digest. The egg also adds up a certain flavour on your soup. If you can have additional meat, do have it – as it’s so good! Oh plus, you can have the noodles according to your preference, hard, or soft way.
IMG_2776The Miso Ra-Men is perfect for you who loves vegetables. Served with homemade miso sauce, and tori-paitan soup, the miso ramen is recommended for you all who wish for something more smoother in taste. I honestly prefer Tamago Ramen as it’s richer in terms of its flavour. However, again, if you really love vegetables, you should order this ramen – it’s also accompanied by chicken or pork.
IMG_2778For rice addicts! (see how much we have to eat) – thank goodness for the smaller portion : P — have the Katsu Curry Rice! If you love the Katsu Curry Rice at Sushi Tei, you’ll definitely love it here. Reasons being: the katsu is way crispier – and two, the curry has a softer texture, with a more balance, and smoother flavours. I personally like this as it doesn’t leave you that I-ATE-WAY-TOO-MUCH food feeling. Recommended!
IMG_2779And alas, for the final dish, the dessert, we have the Vanila Ice Cream which is served with Dorayaki and Matcha Red Bean – along with slices of green apple. I have to say that this dessert is very refreshing as the dorayaki managed to balance the sweetness of the ice cream and the matcha red bean. Plus, you can have the juicy bites of the green apple once you’re completely done with all of it.
There’s still many other dish which are ready at Marutama Ramen. So, go on now, and I’ll see you there! The Marutama Ra-Men Jakarta branch is present at Plaza Sentral Senayan, eX Plaza Indonesia, Puri Indah Mall and Living World Alam Sutera. Itadakimasu!
