Hellow! This is my first post, and I can’t be more excited to share you all the upcoming “dine-in-style” experience. Now, for the past 2 years, Mandarin Oriental Jakarta has been successful in creating a dazzling dinner experience – by bringing in Michelin-starred Chefs to their very own, Lyon Restaurant. I’ve been fortunate to be invited to most of these dinners – from Chef Fabien Lefebvre, Jerome Laurent, and Nicolas Isnard! And after a series of one-starred Michelin Chef, Mandarin Oriental Jakarta is adding up the ante this November, by bringing Jakarta’s foodnistas, a TWO-starred Michelin Chef, Michel Portos.

Michel Portos has been working as the executive Chef and hotel director of the best hotel and restaurant in Bordeaux, “Le Saint James”, and recently has been dubbed as the 2012-Chef of the year by Gault & MIllau (it’s one of the most influential French restaurant guides).

The man first learned his techniques and execution from Dominique Toulousy at the restaurant “Les Jardins de l’Opéra” , which are continued at a three-star Michelin restaurant, “La Maison Troisgros” (which had been named the best French restaurant in the world by Gault & Millau). He now opened his restaurant “Côté Théâtre” in Perpignan, which was awarded its first Michelin star in 2002, and later on, received its second Michelin star in 2009. FYI, In 2011, he also has become one of the semi-final judges in the well-known TV programme, Master Chef France. 

Influenced by both Asian and the Mediterranean dishes, in this dinner, be ready to have a taste on an imaginative culinary creations. Seared foie gras, Moroccan style, Lamb cutlets with minute of curried jus and coconut reduction, and Fish fillet inspired by Hong Kong Journey are just a few of the dishes to appear in his menu (so let’s hope it’s on the menu!).

For 3 days only- from November 1 – 3 ,2012, Chef Michel will also be pairing with his Pastry Chef, Bertin Sebastien on this posh dinner experience.! The price is set at IDR 788,000++, for a three-course business set menu, and you can get a six–course degustation dinner at IDR 1,388,000++. You can also join the Chef’s Table or cooking demo to have a distinct epicure journey at a special price. 

Reservation will also be needed, by calling +62 (21) 2993 8888, and I’m pretty sure, with his extensive background, there’s no need to think twice before you save your seat. So I’ll see you there!
